The Alamo

The movies Alamo tell the story of the historic 1836 battle in the Texan War of Independence. Facing 4,000 Mexican troops, 186 Texan soldiers and volunteers -- including William Travis Davy Crockett, and Jim Bowie retreat within the walls of the Alamo, a Franciscan mission that was converted into a military fort. Once inside, the men prepare themselves for what will be a bloody battle to the death, as General Sam Houston leads the charge from the outside.

This sounds like an internet review.

Tell me about Davy Crockett, Jim Bowie and the rest of the defenders. What were the relations between the blacks, Mexians and the whites within the walls of the Alamo? What was the Alamo and why was it important? Exactly how does the Alamo fit in with the independence of Texas?

Go to your textbook and find the documents that relate to the Alamo. How many other states were involved?

What about this concept of "liberty or death?" How important is this to you?

A lot of things can be asked and commented on with the Alamo. It is forever burned into the hearts and minds of American culture.

Would you want to watch the original which was filmed a couple of decades before? You can then compare the two and see which was the best to watch and which was probably the most accurate.

You left out too many good things. Blog em, blog em.

My daughters love to go to the city that the Alamo is part of it. I've been there; been to Austin and Houston. Who was Houston named after? What did he have to do with the Alamo.

I've been to the Alamo. There are lots of stuff to do there. Maybe by putting San Antonio+tourists and see what you come up with.

Texas is a huge state. They should have divided it into 3 states. If a basketball team way up in the panhandle goes to state, we are talking hundreds and hundreds of miles they will have to travel to get to the playoffs. And with gas prices, ... jeez, Texas might have to close down their football programs.

Texas would be more likely to get rid of everything else, before they gave up their football teams. In fact, this year, on one of the stations, they will have a show that follows this team thoughout the football season. Football is big business in Texas.

I'm not sure that I like this movie better than its first one. This is a modern day, cover of the older movie.

I thought it was long, and that the procer should have edited out about 20 minutes of the thing. But, ... who am I to say. Well, ... a lot. If I felt that way, probably others did too.

Marcella and her adopted grandkids drove up and watched "Cars," and loved it. It is a digital animation movie. WHen it comes out on DVD, I will buy it.

Actually, Marcella bought the Alamo that you watched. Somehow, I didn't like the star assignments.
